MATHEUS + JESSICA
The majestic Las Arenas Villa inside the Punta Cana Resort & Golf Club was the perfect backdrop for Jessica and Matheus’s gorgeous and intimate Garden destination wedding. Matheus really liked the idea of combining their wedding with a complete week of vacation and fun with their families and Jessica didn’t want sand any close to her beautiful Jimmy Choos’s.
What they did want was a beautiful traditional wedding, with several personal untraditional touches. For example, Jessica loves Chinese food, Matheus wanted to add his Brazilian flavor to the music etc… It was a really fun and upbeat party and they spent a beautiful evening celebrating with close friends and family.
Their love story
“There are no accidental meetings between souls.”
Coming from opposite ends of the planet, Matheus and Jessica met while studying together at Harvard Business School. They were in the same section at school and met during their first day in class in Sept 2011. Jessica arrived to class a bit early on the first day, and Matheus was lucky enough to have a seat in front of her.
Over time, they played volleyball together and grew to be friends. Their friendship evolved into a relationship after Matheus showed quite a bit of persistence. He was actually rejected a couple of times since Jessica thought he was “just another guy,” but eventually Matheus heard from a friend that he should try again, and finally made his move at a Saint Patrick day’s party. Over time, Jessica realized that they had something really special, and expected he did too :) They’ve been together since then, through quite a bit of ups and downs, but it’s been worth it.
Matheus believes their first date deserves mention. As he recalls, Jessica showed up wearing an “ugly jacket and shorts”, and he says he knew it was something special because he was still interested even after that.
